Thanks to a $30K grant from The Augustinian Foundation, St. Patrick School has opened a new music program which will be available to all children grades K-8 as part of the regular school curriculum. Headed up by our Music Director, Ms. Anna Lee Fleming, the music program will feature percussions and recorders in the younger grades K-2, ukuleles in the middle grades 3-5, and guitars in the junior high grades 6-8. Besides instruments, grant monies were designated for a complete remodel of the old library building into our newly transformed music room which includes new carpeting, air conditioning, an overhead throw projector, sound system, new electrical wiring, lighting, sound panels, storage space, music chairs, stands, and so much more. As a true testament to the strength and involvement of our community, the remodel was completed entirely by parent volunteers under the supervision of our “Fix-It-Crew.” This is a tremendous gift from the St. Augustine Foundation that will benefit the students of St. Patrick School for many years. In a time when so many schools are cutting programs like music and art, we are proud to be expanding educational opportunities for our students.
