The month of May began with the celebration of our dear and honored Grandparents. Grandparents, and one great-grandparent, came to spend the day with their St. Gregory the Great Catholic School students. The day included refreshments, visits to all the classrooms and preschool, robotics demonstrations, and a visit to our annual Artist & Author’s Fair. A very popular photo booth ensured that every grandparent brought a treasured memento home. Closing out the day’s events was a Mass celebrated under the tents. We are very grateful for the love and support of our grandparents and this day is always much anticipated by the students, faculty, and staff. Our cheer program, led by school parents Mrs. Solomon, Mrs. Rowe, Mrs. Spooner, and Mrs. Brickner, put on a fantastic spirit-filled performance for our guests and had the crowd swaying and cheering along.
Our young First Communicants celebrated their First Holy Communion on Sunday, May 5th. This is one of seven sacraments that our faith cherishes as the students grow closer to God. They have been preparing for this sacrament all year and showed joy and excitement to finally receive this beautiful grace in the presence of family, friends and classmates.
The sixth-graders also participated in a rite of passage by attending a week of camp. Camp allows the students to learn more about science and nature in an outdoor setting. It provides an opportunity for those who have never had the chance to spend time in nature to explore our beautiful San Diego up close, and make memories that they will cherish for years to come.
As we approach the end of this school year, we also want to congratulate the graduating class of 2019 as they move on to high school. We wish you all the best as you continue on your academic journey. We also want to wish everyone a restful and safe summer vacation.
