RECIPIENT OF THE SD CATHOLIC TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARD!
Mr. David Blair or “Coach” as many students, school parents and alumni know him, has dedicated the past 15 years teaching at our school and is currently our 8th grade teacher, Vice Principal as well as Director of Athletics.
We are proud to say that he is an alumnus of St. Charles Catholic School (Imperial Beach) and then continued his high school studies at Marian Catholic High School where he was a member of the year 2000 graduation class. He graduated summa cum laude from USD with a degree in history. He then earned his teaching credential and obtained his master’s degree in education from SDSU, specializing in Curriculum and Instruction.
Besides the excellent in-class instruction that Mr. Blair offers his students, many of whom have received awards and recognitions from Catholic high schools, Mr. Blair also emphasizes the importance of Faith and giving back to our community. Every year his students attend an 8th grade retreat at Whispering Winds where students are given opportunities to reflect and pray. This year marked the 14th Annual Walk for Human Rights on the shore Imperial Beach where all his students gladly participated. Also, this year, his students and their parents had the option of taking a trip with him to Japan over Easter break! In past years his 8th grade classes have visited other parts of the world. He also finds the time to oversee our school sport teams who have also had amazing years thank to the awesome teamwork of volunteer coaches that have helped Coach Blair for several years.
These are a few of the many great things that he offers to our school community. We are very proud, happy, and grateful to see one of our many wonderful staff members receive such a special recognition! Great job “Coach”!
