On Friday, January 26, 2018, Blessed Sacrament Parish School hosted their first ever Mock High School Interview Day. Eighth graders from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School and Nativity Prep Academy joined eighth grade students from BSPS. With the help of two administrators from Nativity Prep and three BSPS parents, each eighth grader was interviewed by an adult from a different school.
The setting replicated actual high school interviews, and the questions were of a similar nature to ones they should expect during their high school interview. After the interview, students were given a feedback rubric, indicating the strength of their body language, eye contact, preparedness, enthusiasm, etc. Yazmine, an 8th grader from BSPS, said that the interviews “better prepared us for the high school interview and it helped me build my confidence.” While students were waiting to be interviewed, they also were able to interact with students from other Catholic schools. “It was cool to meet other students who are interested in the same high schools as us. Since we all will be freshman next year, we were able to already start making friends,” said Malone, an 8th grader from BSPS.
Overall, the afternoon was a success and we look forward to continue the tradition next year at St. Katharine Drexel Academy!
