Forty 7th and 8th graders from St. Didacus had projects at the Greater San Diego Science & Engineering Fair held at the Balboa Activity Center. The judging took place on Wednesday, March 14. Students were judged all morning for project placement, with professional organization judging in the afternoon.

The science fair projects begin with a research based question, an experiment based on the scientific method, and ends with a conclusion based on analyzed result data. At St. Didacus, the students begin working on their projects by doing their research in the spring of the previous school year with experimentation beginning in the fall. In January projects are screened by slide show presentations submitted to a committee and are either accepted or not recommended for application to the GSDSEF.

St. Didacus Parish School had excellent results: Thirteen students received 4th place, eleven received 3rd place, eleven received 2nd place, and four received 1st place. Two students also received professional awards, and one received recognition from the GSDSEF with the Mickey Award for a sports- related project. Two of the students were invited to the California Science & Engineering Fair which will be held in Los Angeles in the spring, and one student has been selected as an alternate to the state fair.

St. Didacus Parish School is so proud of the efforts of these students, and the support from the teachers and parents, for making science and technology an important focus in their education.
